The Raza Foundation has begun constructing homes for displaced families in areas where flood waters have receded.
Catastrophic rains have caused huge flooding that has destroyed the homes and livelihoods of millions in Pakistan since July this year.
Hectares of agricultural land and crops have been flooded with a huge number of livestock dead. People have lost their livelihoods and are now totally dependent on humanitarian aid. People are in immediate need of water, food, medical assistance, and shelter. The poorest and most vulnerable are desperate.
The Raza Foundation has been working in the effected areas providing much needed emergency aid using Relief Camps however, as the waters recede and winter approaches, the rebuild now begins.
With the help of local beneficiaries, we are constructing family homes that are resistant to future flooding. These houses consist of 1 bedroom, 1 multi-purpose living room, an open kitchen and 1 bathroom. The building will have a three-foot foundation and cemented floor, complete with walls of steel reinforced concrete brick and a Therma-Cool roof, on 2 levels. The houses will be electrically cabled and plumbed with basic accessories installed.
Each family home will offer not just shelter but a renewed sense of hope and stability for those who have lost everything. The new homes are designed to accommodate families comfortably, allowing them to rebuild their lives with dignity. By using materials resilient to both heavy rains and extreme weather, we aim to prevent future devastation and reduce the dependency on emergency aid in times of crisis.
Beyond shelter, these homes symbolize a fresh start, giving families the security to focus on restoring their livelihoods, educating their children, and caring for their communities. Local volunteers are working hand-in-hand with the Raza Foundation team, bringing communities together and creating a network of support that goes beyond physical structures. With every brick laid and wall erected, the families regain hope, strength, and resilience.
Your support is helping not only to rebuild homes but also to revive lives and communities, ensuring that vulnerable families in Pakistan have a fighting chance to overcome this disaster and look towards a brighter future.
